Manatt Helps MLB Star DeCinces Avoid Prison Time in Insider Trading Case

Ex-Baseball Star Sentenced To 8 Months Of Home Detention For Insider Trading
– Daily Journal

Manatt’s Kenneth Julian, a partner in the firm’s investigations and white collar defense practice, spoke with the Daily Journal about successfully assisting retired professional baseball player Doug DeCinces in avoiding jail time in an insider trading case.

U.S. District Judge Andrew J. Guilford ordered that DeCinces will be credited for one day already served in jail, pay a $10,000 fine and be on probation for two years under the sentence, according to the Daily Journal. He will additionally spend eight months on home detention as part of his sentence.

Julian, who represented DeCinces in the case, noted that his client paid a $2.5 million fine to the Securities and Exchange Commission before criminal charges were filed, which covered his $1.3 million in insider trading profits.
