CFPB Sees Drop in Enforcement Actions

Enforcement Actions Drop Sharply at Trump-Led CFPB
– Bloomberg Law

Manatt’s Richard Gottlieb, co-chair of the firm’s financial services group, was interviewed by Bloomberg Law for an article on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s (CFPB) activity.

The publication noted that the CFPB has taken only three enforcement actions in the third quarter of 2018, and cited CFPB Director Mick Mulvaney as the reason for a drop in enforcement.

“Exactly none of this should come as a surprise. Mr. Mulvaney is practicing precisely what he preached,” said Gottlieb.
