Marshack Named Outstanding Volunteers by OneOC

Manatt's Adrianne Marshack, a partner in the firm's class actions practice, and Darren Kerstien, an associate in the firm's corporate and finance practice, will be honored by OneOC on April 24 for their outstanding contributions to the community. OneOC, Orange County’s nonprofit resource center, will present the awards at its 2017 Spirit of Volunteerism event, being held at the Disneyland Hotel.
Both Marshack and Kerstien will be recognized for the significant pro bono work they’ve performed, both together and separately. Together, they successfully handled an unlawful detainer against a low-income tenant who was facing an infestation problem. On behalf of the tenant, they negotiated a favorable settlement that included forgiveness of all past-due rent.
Marshack’s recent pro bono service also includes the ongoing representation of a Pakistani woman who was sued by her husband after she filed for a domestic violence TRO. Kerstien, who is chair of the pro bono sub-committee of the Public Law Center Advocates Board, has also volunteered his time to assist families going through the adoption process and provide legal counsel to victims of domestic violence.
OneOC provides volunteers, training, consulting and fiscal sponsorship services for nonprofits to help them become as efficient and effective as possible. Established in 1976, the organization’s Spirit of Volunteerism Awards event celebrates the major involvement of community volunteers, groups and corporations.
