Manatt’s Lindsay Conner, partner and co-chair of the firm’s entertainment and media practice, was named to Variety’s inaugural list of the entertainment industry’s most powerful people. An index of the 500 most influential business leaders shaping the global $2 trillion entertainment industry, the 2017 edition includes only 23 lawyers, and Conner is among only seven to be recognized from a large law firm.
To determine the Variety500, editors cast a wide net across the globe, reviewing the accomplishments of thousands in the industry and consulting knowledgeable sources to gauge the merit of those under consideration. It was specifically important to the editors that in addition to having a long career of accomplishments, those named to the unranked list had made significant impacts in the past 12 months.
In its profile of Conner, Variety notes that he is a key player in the global entertainment market. He has served as chief outside entertainment counsel for major film studios, television networks, production companies, global telecommunication companies, distribution companies and digital media companies. Advising global clientele through the entire life cycle of film, television and digital media assets, he has represented Bejing’s Perfect World Pictures in its historic 50-film deal with Universal and represented China’s largest publicly held film company, Huayi Bros.
