Manatt Honored at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Annual Gala

LLS Presents Manatt with 2013 Corporate Citizenship Award at Man & Woman of the Year Grand Finale Gala

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, has received the 2013 Corporate Citizenship Award from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), honoring the firm's extraordinary commitment to and generous support of the society's mission to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The award was presented on June 15 at the LLS Greater Los Angeles Chapter's Man & Woman of the Year Grand Finale Gala, held at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

Man & Woman of the Year is a 10-week fundraising campaign in which select candidates raise funds in honor of local cancer survivors. Each dollar raised between April 1 and June 15 counted as one vote. Winners, which were announced at the gala, were based on the total number of votes received, or total dollars raised.

Manatt and its employees have been important partners of LLS, serving in leadership roles on the Greater Los Angeles Chapter Board of Trustees and supporting LLS campaigns to raise awareness and funding to support cancer research, including Man & Woman of the Year (MWOY), Light The Night Walk and Team In Training. The money raised from these campaigns directly funds therapies and treatment advances for blood cancer patients.

Manatt partner Peter Duchesneau, who has served as President of the LLS Greater Los Angeles Chapter Board of Trustees and continues to serve as Trustee, said, "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is greatly changing the face of blood cancer through its support and funding of therapies and treatments. We're beginning to see blood cancer survival rates double and triple over the years, and I believe that, with the continuing support of generous individuals and companies such as Manatt, we can conquer cancer."

For over the past five years, Manatt has run an MWOY candidate, including this year's Michael Rexford, a counsel in the firm's Entertainment Practice. Manatt's candidates from the last two years were both named first runners-up.

Manatt employees have also supported other LLS fundraising efforts, including Light The Night Walks, which produced top fundraising teams, and regularly participate across the country in Manatt's Corporate Team In Training programs.
