Keeping it Real: Fake Drake and the Legal Implications of AI-Created Music

With the recent viral AI-created song that replicated Drake and The Weeknd’s vocals, questions continue to mount around the use of generative AI in the production of copyrighted works like music. The latest generative AI can now simulate an artist’s voice, lyrical tempo and style, allowing the creation of tracks that are virtually indistinguishable from the genuine artist. Officials from the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Justice and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recently released a joint statement on their commitment to enforce responsible innovation in automated systems. What does this all mean for the future of the media and entertainment industry? This webinar will dive into a discussion around what artists can do to protect their work, implications for music streaming services and major record labels, and opportunities to further explore AI as the technology continues to advance.
