Leading Antitrust Lawyer Joins Manatt in New York

David Reichenberg brings an extensive background representing startups and public companies alike in the gamut of antitrust and unfair competition issues

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, a multidisciplinary, integrated professional services firm, announced today that Antitrust Partner David Reichenberg has joined the Firm in its New York office. Reichenberg’s extensive antitrust experience across litigation, transactional, regulatory and strategic counseling matters further strengthens Manatt’s national capabilities for clients across key industries, including health care, financial services, entertainment and technology, among others.

“We are thrilled to add David to our talented antitrust and trial-ready litigation teams that continue to provide favorable results for clients across our core practices and throughout the nation,” said Donna L. Wilson, Manatt’s CEO and Managing Partner. “Also a distinguished business adviser and respected thought leader, David brings impressive industry knowledge of complex antitrust disputes and implications that will deepen our abilities to help clients structure and meet their business objectives while minimizing issues with regulators, competitors and other third parties.”

Following closely on the heels of notable Antitrust Partner Stephen D. Libowsky—who guides clients through issues in litigation, regulatory and transactional matters out of Manatt’s Chicago office—Reichenberg is the latest addition to the Firm’s growing antitrust capabilities. Representing clients ranging from emerging companies to Fortune 500 corporations on various antitrust claims, Reichenberg has deep litigation experience on both the plaintiff and defense sides and regularly advises companies of all sizes on the antitrust implications of potential business initiatives. He also advises on and litigates unfair competition issues, including intellectual property- and trade secrets-related matters. Additionally, he has guided clients before the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission, coordinating responses to government investigations from both the offensive and defensive perspectives. Reichenberg has been previously named to Global Competition Review’s “40 Under 40” quadrennial list, which recognizes the top antitrust lawyers in the world under the age of 40.

“David’s impressive and deep experience across sectors handling complex matters makes him a terrific addition in New York and will add depth to some of our core industry offerings in the office, which span from health care to digital and technology,” said Prana A. Topper, Manatt’s New York Office Managing Partner. “Our diverse New York-based legal and consulting colleagues are constantly collaborating and working with professionals across all our offices, so it is also the ideal place for David to continue growing his national practice and help clients navigate today’s regulatory landscape.”

A dedicated member of his community, Reichenberg also regularly engages in pro bono efforts. He has represented individual civil rights plaintiffs in federal court and most recently served as first chair on a trial team that secured a favorable jury verdict against a 1983 claim under the Fourth Amendment in the Eastern District of New York.

“I was immediately drawn to Manatt’s entrepreneurial approach to client services and its excellent reputation as a strategic adviser across the board,” said Reichenberg. “The Firm’s integration of legal and consulting offerings promotes the level of collaboration needed to provide innovative strategies and effective results for my clients, and I’m excited to start this next chapter in my career.”

Manatt has been strategically expanding its roster of legal and business consulting professionals across its practices nationwide, with Reichenberg the latest arrival on the East Coast. In addition to the arrival of Libowsky, other recent additions include Entertainment Litigation Partner Nathaniel L. Bach, experienced FDA regulatory leader Rachel L. Sher, Manatt Health National Advisor Dr. Christina Jenkins and Senior Advisor Claudia Page, distinguished entertainment lawyer Christopher Chatham, Technology and Intellectual Property Litigation Partner Timothy Lohse, Digital and Technology Transactions Partner Michel C. Narganes, full-time Pro Bono Attorney Alexandra S. McCown, Manatt Health Senior Advisor Amy Salerno, health care and civil litigation Partner Megan Thibert-Ind, and former New York State Department of Health Director Tracy F. Raleigh.

Reichenberg is an active member of the American Bar Association Antitrust Section, serving as co-chair of the Trial Practice Committee. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.S. in economics and statistics from Cornell University.
