Mann Quoted in The New York Times about Health Coverage Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

Obamacare, in Its First Big Test as Safety Net, Is Holding Up So Far
– The New York Times

Manatt Health partner Cindy Mann spoke with The New York Times about how the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has impacted the recession stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, especially as it relates to the law’s expansion of Medicaid in some states. In the article, Mann commented on the 22.2 percent growth rate in state Medicaid enrollment between February and November, noting that having more patients with health coverage is beneficial for providers amid the uncertain environment. “They’re receiving revenue for many patients who otherwise would have been uninsured,” Mann said.

This article also highlighted a recent Manatt on Health paper, showing Medicaid enrollment gains in states that have participated in the ACA’s Medicaid expansion during 2020.
