Reinsurance Becomes a Bipartisan Issue

Blue, Red States Work on Making Obamacare Plans More Affordable
– Bloomberg Law

Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, was interviewed by Bloomberg Law to discuss reinsurance programs.

The publication noted that seven states—Alaska, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon and Wisconsin—are currently using Obamacare waivers to start up reinsurance programs and reduce the cost of health insurance premiums by covering high-cost claims.

“Reinsurance is the one area where there’s been bipartisan agreement that it’s a good strategy for stabilizing state marketplaces,” said Ario.
