New Mexico Health Exchange Will Be State-Run

New Mexico, in ‘Seismic Shift,’ Shifts to State Exchange for 2021 Plan Year
– Inside Health Policy

Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, was interviewed by Inside Health Policy for an article on New Mexico’s move to become a fully state-run health exchange.

The publication noted that the board of New Mexico’s health insurance exchange, bewellNM, voted unanimously to move from a federal-run to a state-run platform. New Mexico is one of five states that have state-based exchanges that lease technology from the government.

“New Mexico joins Nevada in giving all states a heads-up that they may be able to both save money and enhance state flexibility on policy issues by moving from the federal platform to a state-based marketplace,” said Ario.
