Republicans Could Decide to Keep Medicaid Expansion

States Searching for Answers From GOP on Medicaid's Future
– The Hill

The Hill interviewed Manatt’s Cindy Mann, a partner with Manatt Health, for an article about the future of Medicaid. Congressional Republicans haven’t said whether they want to keep the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Medicaid expansion, and questions remain whether financing decisions and expansion can be addressed at the same time.

Mann said the ACA’s Medicaid expansion hasn’t been seen as the centerpiece of the law, so Republicans may not feel repeal is a political imperative. Congress has more flexibility to make changes to the program if they keep the expansion because states have more money to work with, she explained.
