Losses Under Graham-Cassidy Between ‘Significant and Vast’

Manatt’s Jocelyn Guyer, a managing director with Manatt Health, was quoted in the Los Angeles Times on how the Graham-Cassidy proposal could impact funding for healthcare in certain states.

Healthcare safety nets in dozens of states could stand to lose more than $200 billion by 2026 and hundreds of billions more dollars in the years that follow, said the publication. While the magnitude of coverage losses is difficult to quantify because the new proposal leaves critical details to be determined, studies of similar proposals suggest tens of millions of Americans would see major changes to their healthcare coverage.

“The vast majority of states lose money, and some lose truly jaw-dropping amounts,” said Guyer. “That suggests coverage losses are likely somewhere between significant and vast.”

Several top-tier publications have covered Manatt Health’s analysis of the Graham-Cassidy bill, including The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and Bloomberg.
